DAISY Award Recipient – 2024
Dr. Bancy Mwangi is a compassionate and resilient healthcare professional with over 15 years of experience in nursing and pain management. Her clinical background spans hospital and outpatient settings, treating musculoskeletal pain, cancer-related pain, neuropathic disorders, chronic injuries, arthritis, postoperative pain, migraines, and complex regional pain syndrome. She is board certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and earned her Doctorate in Family Nurse Practice from Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Indiana.
Her commitment to pain management was shaped by personal experience. In 2021, she underwent a craniotomy for a brain tumor and later lost vision in her right eye. Living through severe, life-altering pain deepened her empathy and strengthened her dedication to helping patients regain function, independence, and hope.
Born in Nyahururu, Kenya, Dr. Mwangi immigrated to the United States in 2009 and is trilingual in Kikuyu, Swahili, and English. She began her healthcare career as a CNA and progressed through LVN, RN, and BSN roles before achieving her doctorate—demonstrating perseverance and unwavering determination.
A 2024 DAISY Award recipient, Dr. Mwangi is committed not only to relieving pain but also to addressing healthcare inequities and improving access to essential services. Guided by faith, resilience, and gratitude, her philosophy remains:
Changing one life at a time.
